Maria Antonakos joined Perimeter in July 2011. As Director of Advancement, Maria helps initiate and steward strategic philanthropic partnerships with a broad base of individual, corporate, and foundation supporters. Prior to Perimeter, Maria founded and led OPUS Philanthropic Strategies Incorporated, a boutique consulting firm servicing charities and foundations. From 2002 to 2006, Maria was the Senior Director of Philanthropic Services for the Canadian Women’s Foundation where she led the foundation’s national philanthropic and major gifts programmes, and helped established Women Play BIG, an ongoing think-tank for women philanthropists.

In her early career, she was the Capital Campaign Manager for the $20 million project to renovate Roy Thomson Hall. She has also worked at the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Orchestras. Maria founded and teaches a course in strategic philanthropy for senior commerce students at McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business. She holds an Honors B.A. in Music (voice) from the Faculty of Music at University of Toronto and continued graduate studies at New York University and The Juilliard School.
